Search for School by School Name and Mascot

TXHSHelmetproject.com is no longer in operation. There will be no more updates to the site, but it will stay up for a little while longer for individuals to save images that they need. I enjoyed the 7 years of working on the site and getting to know many of you that have the same interest as I do, Texas High School Football. Over the last year my kids are growing older and becoming more involved in sports and other activities that I must put my full interest in, leaving little time for this site.

During the 16 week football season I would spend 20-30 hours a week going through online newspaper pictures, school web sites, and booster club sites and then trying to re-create decals and helmets. During the Christmas break I would e-mail all the coaches of schools that I did not have information for the past season. The responses I got was about 50%. I was hoping I would eventually get more help from coaches and boosters with information, but that never materialized. I now don't have the time to e-mail coaches, look around the internet for pictures, and re-create decals. In a perfect world all the coaches would send me a .pdf file of their helmet decal from the decal company. I could get a helmet made in a matter of minutes then. Re-creating the decal took time, sometimes up to an hour.

My overhead cost of running the site was about $160 a year, not too bad. A couple of years ago I was running google adsense, it was offsetting the cost, I would get $200 to $300 per year, although really not enough to justify the time I was putting in. Last summer my google adsense account was disabled for some reason. They were the only ads I was running at the time. Maybe I did something wrong, I don't know, but they worked just fine for two years. Now I had the overhead of $160, with no revenue. I did add the amazon ads last summer, but with these ads, there have to be purchases for their to be revenue. No one was purchasing, so there is no revenue.

Another reason for me deciding to put an end to the site was the constant changing of schools' helmets. Making a change each season is OK, but changing from week to week is a little much. I couldn't keep up. I'm the type of person that likes to make everything perfect and that can't happen with week to week changes. I was needing a week to week update of helmet changes and there was no way I was going to get that, I couldn't get information from all the schools if their helmet was the same as previous years or if it had changed.

I did enjoy the 7 years of operating the site. As you can see, there are many reasons I can no longer keep running the site: my kids, my career, time, money, and constant change. Thank you all for visiting the site and help making what it was over the last 7 years.
